Land Acknowledgement
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we are located on Treaty 7 land the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, comprised of the Siksika Kainai and Piikani Nations, the Tsuu T'ina and Îyâxe Nakoda, including the Chiniki Bearspaw and Wesley Nations. Treaty 7 is also home to the Métis Nation (Region 3). We acknowledge all Nations -Indigenous and non - who honour and celebrate this territory.
The Talking stick, used in many Indigenous cultures, is an ancient and powerful “communication tool”. The person holding the stick, and only that person, is designated as having the right to speak and all others must listen quietly and respectfully.
When the talking stick is used with intent, it will assist in neutralizing negative emotions and help you speak from the heart.
